Biosensor Technology
How does it work?
An electroencelphalogram (EEG) is the measure and recording of electrical activity generated by neurons in the brain. Conventional scalp EEG is conducted using 19 electrodes and conductive gel, while our B3 BrainBand collects accurate EEG data using a simple dry dual el ectrode system with included left ear ground and reference sensors. Detect Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Theta band RAW data with sample rates as high as 512 Hz.
The performance of our B3 BrainBand sensor and module has been tested against the wet-electrode BIOPAC System, a well-known device for EEG data acquisition. Results demonstrated that the B3 BrainBand accurately detects brain waves just as well as the BIOPAC system and does so with less background noise in low frequency bands.
The B3 BrainBand uses NeuroSky's proprietary ThinkGear ASIC Module (TGAM) chipset in combination with dry dual electrodes, a proprietary algorithm, and a compact, non-intrusive design to accurately measure EEG. The B3 BrainBand allows researchers to move outside the laboratory environment and measure EEG anytime and anywhere.
What is included in the B3 Brainband set?
The included dual sensor cable connects the Bluetooth-enabled B3 Main Unit to the ear hook (containing ground and reference sensors) and dual sensors. The Velcro-mounted dual sensor strip can be attached to the BrainBand or to any other headgear of choice.
For use with a computer lacking Bluetooth capabilities, the supplied USB dongle can be used to transmit data from the B3 Main Unit. The B3 Main Unit rechargeable lithium-ion battery has a three hour run time after being charged for a period of four hours. The B3 Main Unit can be charged in a USB port with the supplied cable.
The B3 BrainBand also includes the Mindset Research Tools (MRT) software, which consists of two programs that allow users to view and record EEG data with different levels of customization.
What is MRT?
MindSet Research Tools (MRT) is a cost effective and user-friendly interface for EEg data collection. MRT includes NeuroView and NeuroSkyLab programs, two specialized applications to study and understand brainwaves.
NeuroView is designed for novice to intermediate EEG researchers wishing to view and record EEG data in real-time. The recorded data can easily be exported to other third-party applications for data analysis and processing.
NeuroSkyLab is targeted toward advanced EEG researchers who are familiar with the MATLAB environment and provides more powerful customization options for real-time data viewing and data analysis.
