B-Bridge is a highly unique biotechnology company with a special business model. The company was founded in 2000 by Hiro Masumoto former head of International Sales and Marketing at Clontech Laboratories. He envisioned B-Bridge as a conduit facilitating the exchange of life-science technology worldwide. Since then, the company has grown into the following three complimenting corporate units:

Distribution

(2000-2003) - To create a revenue base, B-Bridge originally began as a distributor of laboratory reagents from manufacturers in the United States into Japan and expanded its distribution channels worldwide. During this period, B-Bridge pioneered the distribution of cutting edge products in the RNA interference (RNAi) field into Japan.

Incubation and Consulting

(2003) - In order to facilitate expansion of its research tools portfolio and go beyond this area into diagnostics and therapeutics Mr. Masumoto established a separate business unit focusing on global technology transfer and incubation of startup biotech companies. To-date B-Bridge has founded and incubated Avocel Corporation in the USA (an siRNA therapeutics company) and Strex Inc. in Japan (developing tools for study of biophysical forces and applications in assisted reproductive technologies). Today, newer companies are housed within B-Bridge’s incubation center.

R&D and Manufacturing

(2004) - The company became a manufacturer of its own high quality RNAi products. Since then, B-Bridge has developed and patented novel methods for designing optimal siRNA molecules and pioneered the off-target avoidance field. This unit was later renamed Strategic Research Solutions.


Today, B-Bridge aims to improve human healthcare through bridging existing gaps in the biotechnology world by global introduction of innovative technologies, research and drug development tools, international technology transfer services, and by providing incubation resources for startup companies.

B-Bridge is headquartered in the heart of the birth place of modern biotechnology in the San Francisco Biotech Bay. The company has offices in Japan and Germany, and business partners worldwide.
